I am a rationalist. For me, reason is the natural organ of truth; but imagination is the organ of meaning. Imagination, producing new metaphors or revivifying old, is not the cause of truth, but it’s condition.

C.S. Lewis, “Bluspels and Flalansferes”

Contrary to how so many view Lewis, though he was a rationalist he viewed it as dependent on imagination. They create a composite way of analyzing and producing truth.
